Cuddle and Kind
In our house a “Cuddler” is the term we use for one of those soft toys you have connection with, the ones that make you a bit happier with just a little squeeze. These are the ones that my kids snuggle in bed, make tea parties for and travel with on long trips. And I have no doubt that as they grow older they will remain a cherished part of their memories.
Cuddle and Kind make the perfect “Cuddler”. These gorgeous characters are cute, fun and beautifully designed. They are hand-knit, hand-loomed, embroidered and crocheted with premium natural cotton and this attention to quality means they are created to be loved for a long time. When you give a Cuddle and Kind doll you are also giving so much more – helping feed children in need all over the world and providing ethical employment in Peru.
After watching a documentary about the impact of childhood hunger in the world Jen and Derek Woodgate knew there was something they had to do. Together with their family of 5 they were inspired to create Cuddle and Kind with the goal of giving 1 million meals each year. With a background in health they know that good nutrition helps kids fight disease, perform better in school, earn more as an adult, break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential. The purchase of each doll gives 10 meals and through partnerships with various humanitarian agencies, Cuddle and Kind supply meals to children in over 65 countries around the world. So far they have been able to give more than 4 million meals in just 3 years.
While feeding children was the inspiration for Cuddle and Kind it was important that their dolls reflect their values. Handmade in Peru, they provide 750 artisans with sustainable employment, ensuring they receive fairtrade wages, safe working conditions and flexible working hours to enable mothers in rural communities to balance work and raising their families.
Giving a “cuddler” to a new baby or growing little person in your life is such a great way to give a bit of love that has the potential to be such an important part of their lives. Something they can keep forever.
